Kazebo came into existence during the spring and summer of 2020. Just like the rest of the world, we experienced a slowdown caused by the pandemic. Our business, which offers luxury tipi rentals for weddings, corporate events, and parties, came to a complete standstill. In the initial weeks of the pandemic, we postponed all our customers' events until restrictions were eased. As a result of numerous tipi weddings, parties, and events being postponed, we found ourselves with a significant amount of free time.
In the pleasant spring and summer weather of 2020, when restrictions were lifted and small outdoor gatherings with family and friends were allowed, we seized the chance. Along with many others, we realized the importance of having an outdoor area for hosting our events. After an unsuccessful search for a gazebo or summer house that met our expectations, we decided to design our own.
Being familiar with timber was not a new experience for us. Since the early days of establishing our rental company Katachiefs, we have been crafting our own traditional furniture, including round tables, firepits, and bars. As the tipi rental aspect of our business was currently inactive, we began installing tipis on permanent wooden bases in various locations such as schools, wedding venues, hospitality establishments, and private gardens throughout the UK.
During these projects, we set out to create the first Kazebo, focusing on capturing the rustic appeal of timber rather than opting for a manufactured look. Our goal was to maintain a connection with nature by incorporating outdoor elements, ensuring that the structure felt like an extension of the house. We strived for a design that exuded character, avoiding the conventional square posts and felt roof by opting for a spoked internal roof, round poles, and rough-cut timber to give the Kazebo its unique charm.
Only after completing the project and hosting family friends did we realize that there might be others who appreciate our unique vision for a gazebo. The charm of the structure impressed many, leading to requests for us to build similar versions for them. Since then, while maintaining its rustic character, we have refined both the construction and design.
